Project Scope –
Arun county council required a Changing Places Toilet facility to be a free-standing modular unit on a new foundations that is connected to the main power, water and drainage on site.
The modular unit is designed to comply with:

The external finish is for a modern green oak slat finish.
OUR TEAM DISCIPLINES –
As Principal Contractor PWM built the raft foundation, utility connections and installed, commissioned the Changing Places toilet per the client’s specification. PWM worked with partners Seed Architects who completed the design.
PWMs responsibilities included:
- Verification of design including early engagement with MDUK on the internal design of the modular unit
- Review of PCIP
- Creation of Construction Phase plan
- Creation and Management of Inspection and test plan
- Facilitation of client factory visits during the manufacturing process
- Regular client progress updates and the use of SharePoint to collaborate on design reviews and approvals.
- Full test, commissioning certification and hand back of the new facility
CHALLENGES –
The main challenges faced on this project was designing the modular unit to meet the local authority heritage and environmental requirements as well as meeting MDUK requirements.
Construction of a raft foundation within the zone of influence of a heritage wall, resulted in underpinning a small section of the wall to remove any risk.
