Accessible Toilet units are long-lasting, impact and vandal-resistant and meet all BS fire and safety standards.
General Functionality –
PODS can be located at both staffed and unstaffed locations which means ensuring a robust system is in place for users to access and obtain help is critical.
Access to the Toilets PODS can be via the following options:
- Radar Key – users with a Radar key can gain direct access.
- QR Code – users with an active train ticket. User scans code to gain automatic entry.
- Video Entry – users activate the camera. This will require a third party to allow access from a remote support service (Call Centre or Control Room).
- The video entry system functions by waving the hand across the face of the camera to generate the auto call.
- Intercom – The toilets have a built-in speaker / intercom which provides an audio description of the layout and facilities. This can be in Welsh and then English.
- Two-way Intercom – This allows the Call Centre or Control Room and user to communicate directly with each other
Security and Emergency Features –
- Security has been designed into the Toilet PODS to ensure the safety and security of all users.
- Scream alert – if a user is in danger and screams, the interior intercom will pick up the high decibel sound and trigger an auto dial to the support service to manage the response.
- Double emergencies pull cord – the facility has two installed along with intermittent panic buttons fitted at lower levels to allow users in difficulty to press for help anywhere in the toilet.
- No response call – At specific intervals, whilst the system detects the toilet is engaged, an auto call will be triggered with the support service who can speak over the intercom to assist if the user is in difficulty.
- Vulnerable person – If someone believes they are at risk, they can obtain access to the POD using the Video entry system. Once inside they are in a safe place and the support service can speak over the intercom to assist the user and arrange for emergency response
