Changing Places

The focus of the Changing Places is to provide a sanitary accommodation which meets the needs of people with complex and multiple learning disabilities who require an assistant or two.

General Functionality –

The focus of the Changing Places is to provide a sanitary accommodation which meets the needs of people with complex and multiple learning disabilities who require an assistant or two. It is a larger facility than standard accessible changing places, allowing enough space for people who need personal assistance to use the facilities or change continence pads. This ensures the health and dignity of the users to be kept intact and offers more opportunities in terms of activities for the disabled users.

Maintenance Guidelines –

  • The exterior of the pod requires a minimum amount of external maintenance.
  • The floor can be vacuumed or swept, and large debris removed. AltroClean44 or equivalent alkaline cleaner should be applied to the flooring, left for several minutes then scrubbed. Rinse floor with warm clean water, removing dirty water from the floor and allow to dry. Ensure scuff marks are removed regularly, use only recommended cleaning liquids or the equivalent in the correct concentration.
  • All internal consumer equipment to be cleaned regularly with non-abrasive cleaners. Please contact your contract cleaners for updates on any maintenance issues with any internal consumer equipment.
  • Hoists and all specialist equipment must be regularly inspected, serviced, and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe, effective use.
  • Regular cleaning of the extractor fan is advised as this can reduce any noise level. Some noise generated by certain systems can be distressing to some people.
  • Signage outside will indicate when the CP pod was last cleaned/inspected.
